A B2B digital marketing campaign to promote Sapphire Balconies’ 2020 April Fool’s video has generated the client’s ‘best ever’ results on social media. Our experienced team was tasked with promoting Sapphire’s spoof video announcing the launch of a high-definition digital balcony display system on YouTube, Twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook.
The impressive social media stats we compiled to measure the campaign’s success show that contrary to the famous saying, you can fool a lot of the people a lot of the time! Sapphire’s hoax video achieved a grand total of 257,562 impressions (the number of times the content was displayed) and 59,061 views across the four social media platforms. On Twitter alone, there were 95,421 impressions and 33,106 views. We believe these results demonstrate our expertise in promoting our client’s business and brand on social media, as well as encouraging our extensive trade press contacts to engage with the campaign.
Bringing the palace balcony concept to life
Bringing the concept of a ‘bespoke balcony screen’ for London’s most prestigious palace’s balcony to life was this year’s April Fool’s video challenge. The Leaf team was responsible for every element of the April Fool’s video, from coming up with a convincing name for Sapphire’s imaginary new product and writing the script, to filming, and editing the video. Working closely with the client, we put our well-honed brainstorming skills to the test and came up with ‘GAGS’ concept. The hoax video was filled with ‘fake facts’ and mocked-up photos to fool viewers into believing the new system was a real development from Sapphire’s state-of-the-art Innovation Hub. The post achieved over 250,000 impressions and confused and amused many followers eliciting comments such as “very clever” and “love a good gag”.
